TAXES
In France, since 2019, taxes are deducted at source, so these are deducted before the income is paid. However, an annual declaration is required in April/May. For this, the cerfa number 2042 must be completed.
More information on the tax return can be found by following the link below: https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/formulaire/2042/declaration-des-revenus
The first tax return is usually sent to the tax office in paper form, but a private online space can be requested later.
In order to facilitate your declaration in April/May, it is advisable to send the cerfa number 2043-SD to the Public Finances, which allows you to obtain a tax number and a personalised rate of withholding tax: https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/formulaire/2043-sd/demande-de-numero-fiscal-et-de-taux-personnalise-de-prelevement-la-source
This can be done as early as 180 days of residence in France. Requesting a personalised rate will allow public officials to provide you with information concerning a possible bilateral agreement with your country of habitual residence.
