Following the latest modification of the french Code of Entry and Stay of Foreigners and the Right of Asylum (CESEDA) dated May 1st of this year, the deadlines for submitting an application for renewal of a residence permit have been modified as follows :
– The renewal of a residence permit must be submitted between the 120th day and the 60th day before the expiration of the previous residence permit. That means, between 4 months and 2 months before the expiration of the previous permit.
– For the renewal requests made beteween 2 months before the expiration of the permit and 6 months after the expiration date, a late fee is applied.
– After 6 months, any application for a residence permit is inadmissible.
Although the prefectures and sub-prefectures adopted a flexible application of this rule this summer. But, since the beginning of the school year, we have recorded cases of the application of the said tax to late renewal requests.
